Learning Coordinated Badminton Skills
A robot that plays badminton.
I recently graduated with a Ph.D. from Robotics Systems Lab, ETH Zürich, where I worked on learning-based agile control of legged mobile manipulators. I have now joined Light Robotics, an exciting startup focused on advancing generalist robotics.
I grew up in Nanjing, and went to Singapore for high school. Missing the four seasons, I decided to go to Imperial College London for my bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Then I studied Robotics, Systems, and Control at ETH Zürich for my master’s degree, and stayed to complete my Ph.D. I will now be based in the Singapore office of Light Robotics, and traveling frequently to Shenzhen.
I see agile and interactive control as a crucial factor in broadening the functionality of robots. Learning-based approaches are promising in this direction due to less model simplifications, design heuristics, and runtime computational cost. During my Ph.D., I worked on ANYmal robot with an arm, and I’m excited to continue advancing robotic capabilities in this direction.
